Two men escaped from the Parintins Interactive Police Station (DIP), in the interior of Amazonas, and are being sought by the State Civil Police (PC-AM). The corporation released images of the suspects and is asking for the public’s support in locating them.
The fugitives are Felipe dos Santos Azevedo, aged 23, and Wellington Matheus Alves Pinto, aged 25. According to PC-AM, Felipe is responsible for the crimes of robbery and illegal possession of a firearm. Wellington Matheus is now being investigated for criminal organization and homicide.
The two managed to escape from the police station under circumstances that are still being investigated. The Civil Police did not say when the escape occurred, nor details about how the suspects escaped from the police unit.
The case occurs amid the reinforcement of security actions in the interior of Amazonas, following the escape of 14 inmates from a prison unit in Maués, recorded last week. On that occasion, the inmates escaped while sunbathing, through a hole opened in the unit’s protective grille.
After the episode in Maués, an operational group was set up with agents from the Special Operations Company (COE) and the Shock troops, displaced from Manaus to support the search for fugitives in different regions of the state.
PC-AM reinforces that information about the whereabouts of Felipe dos Santos Azevedo and Wellington Matheus Alves Pinto can be passed on anonymously to the authorities.
