Dick Van Dyke celebrated his hundredth birthday and talks openly about death: Is he afraid? A surprising reaction

Actor, comedian and singer Dick Van Dyke, who celebrated his 100th birthday in early December, spoke openly about his relationship with death and aging. Although he is fully aware of his own mortality, he has stated that he is not afraid of death.

In an interview with Good Morning America, which he gave shortly before his hundredth birthday, he admitted that he thinks about death, but he does not fear it. “Death doesn’t particularly scare me. Although I wish I had a lot more life,” Priznal Van Dyke.

“I have no idea what happens when people die,” he added that he didn’t want to worry about such thoughts unnecessarily. Last month, Dick reflected on aging in an essay published by the Sunday Times. In the text, he openly described the physical and social limitations that come with old age. “It’s frustrating to feel smaller in the world, physically and socially,” wrote.

With his typical humor, he also described health problems. “I have problems with my legs and lie down as often as possible, if it’s convenient. My eyesight is now so bad that origami is out of the question. I have trouble following group conversations and often complain about my headphones.” added Van Dyke.
