Slovak ice hockey players secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Under-20 World Cup. This was decided by Switzerland’s 4-0 victory over Germany on Tuesday, after which the Slovaks will definitely be in the top four of the basic A-group. The Germans took the last fifth place in it after not scoring a single match.
The Swiss were without a point after two games, but entered the important match against Germany with two goals in the second period. In the middle part, they added two more accurate hits, after which the Germans were no longer able to turn around. The Slovaks, like the Helvetii, have three points. Which of these two teams advances from third place will be decided by their head-to-head match. It is scheduled for Wednesday, December 31 at 7:00 p.m. CET. The Germans will play a playoff to stay in the elite category.
