The year 2025 was the hottest on record announced this Friday (2) the Met Office, the country’s national meteorological service. “2025 joins 2022 and 2023 as the three hottest years since 1884,” the Met Office said in a statement. “This is an increasingly clear demonstration of the impact of climate change on UK temperatures,” he added.

With an average temperature of 10.09°C, 2025 broke the previous record of 10.03°C, set in 2022. “Four of the last five years are now among the five hottest years on record in the country,” the Met Office said.

The ten hottest years have occurred in the last two decades. Furthermore, the weather agency confirmed that 2025 was the sunniest year on record in the UK since records began in 1910. A total of 1,648.5 hours of sunshine were recorded, 61.4 hours more than the previous record, set in 2003.
