Lula government calls emergency meeting after Trump captures Maduro

Ministers and advisors from the Lula government will hold an emergency meeting this Saturday morning (3/1) to discuss the invasion of Venezuela and the capture of dictator Nicolás Maduro.

The meeting, according to the column, is scheduled for 10 am at Itamaraty. There is an expectation that President Lula will participate remotely — the PT member is on vacation at the Navy base in Marambaia, in Rio de Janeiro.

Lula, according to the column, has already been informed by advisors about Trump’s announcement. The Brazilian president is still evaluating whether he will return to Brasília sooner. Until then, the PT member only intended to return from recess on Monday (6/1).
