India showcases ancient gemstones with ties to Buddha

In India, gemstones associated with Buddha discovered in colonial times were presented to the public for the first time. India’s culture ministry said Saturday it would be the first time the gems would be on display since they were scattered around the world following British excavations in 1898. The exhibition is a “historic event”. It is believed that the stones were buried with relics of Buddha in northern India.
