In some districts of the Slovak Republic, it can be from minus 15 to minus 19 degrees Celsius on the night from Sunday to Monday (January 5). The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) has therefore issued a first level warning against low temperatures. He informs about it on his website.
The warning applies to the entire Žilina region, the districts of Stará Ľubovňa, Kežmarok, Levoča, Sabinov, Poprad, Gelnica, Spišská Nová Ves, Rožňava, Banská Bystrica and Brezno. “A minimum air temperature of minus 15 to minus 19 degrees Celsius is expected to be reached in rare cases. The low temperature poses a potential danger to human health and physical activities outdoors,” meteorologists said.
