Singer Marília Mendonça’s social networks retrieved an old tweet from the artist and released, this Monday (5), a teaser video for the new posthumous song “Você Fez Me Odiar o Carnaval”, published on the singer’s official YouTube channel.
Like other recent releases, the track uses the original voice recorded by Marília, without the use of artificial intelligence to recreate her singing. The choice follows the same care seen in songs like “Segundo Amor da Sua Vida”, released in October 2025, and the hit “Leão” (2023), which became one of the most listened to songs of the decade in Brazil.
One of the curiosities of the new song is the declared inspiration in “Happier Than Ever”, by North American singer Billie Eilish. The song’s structure reflects this influence by beginning in a melancholic manner and gradually building up to a more intense and emotional arrangement.
“Você Fez Me Hadiar o Carnaval” was composed and recorded in the studio in the second half of 2021, and is signed by João Gustavo (Marília’s brother), Dom Vittor and Matheus.
Still without a release date, the 30-second teaser, released on Sunday (4), increased the expectations of fans, who are already betting on the song as a possible hit for this year’s Carnival.
In addition to the video, the artist’s team rescued a tweet published by Marília in October 2021, a few days before her death, on November 5th.
In the message, she already announced the release of the song and joked about the release: “Not wanting to change the subject, but already preparing you. I made a song to release at Carnival and its name is: ‘You made me hate Carnival’. I’m warning you in advance because I’m a good person”, she wrote.
In the lyrics we hear: “Your abadá is still my pajamas/ But this year I won’t even get out of bed/ At this time we would be in Salvador/ In the same place you left me/ You made me hate Carnival”.

About the singer’s accident
The accident that killed Marília Mendonça occurred on November 5, 2021, in Piedade de Caratinga, Minas Gerais. The singer was on her way to a concert when the twin-engine plane, a Beechcraft King Air C90A, crashed a few kilometers from the destination airport.
The aircraft collided with cables from a CEMIG power transmission line during its approach to landing. The Fire Department reported that it was called at around 3:30 pm. At this point, images of the plane were already circulating on social media.
After hitting the wires, the plane crashed into a waterfall area in a rural area. In addition to Marília (26 years old), her uncle and advisor Abicieli Silveira, producer Henrique Ribeiro, pilot Geraldo Medeiros and co-pilot Tarcísio Viana died.
The report from the Legal Medical Institute (IML) confirmed that all occupants died from blunt trauma due to the strong impact of the fall.
Further developments in 2025 saw the case return to the headlines due to disputes over insurance compensation.
