America offers Greenland billions of dollars. Trump believes he will get them through one-time payments to residents

The administration of President Trump came up with a proposal to pay every resident of Greenland a one-time financial contribution of up to 100,000 dollars. The goal is to convince them to join the country to the USA.

The administration of US President Donald Trump is planning to pay the people of Greenland one-time financial contributions in order to convince them to agree to join the country with the United States. TASR informs about it on the basis of a report by the Reuters agency, which on Friday referred to sources familiar with the matter.

  • The Trump administration plans to pay the people of Greenland one-time payments.
  • The goal of the payments is to convince Greenlanders to join the US.
  • Salaries would range between $10,000 to $100,000.

According to sources, amounts ranging from 10,000 (8,563 euros) to 100,000 dollars per person are being discussed. This would equate to a total of nearly $6 billion. Internal discussions about lump sum payments have intensified in recent days, one of the sources said. The White House confirmed that President Trump and his security advisers are exploring “what a potential purchase might look like.”

Negotiations on Greenland

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen next week to discuss Greenland. Trump has long stated that the United States needs Greenland, which is a Danish overseas territory, for national security reasons. Denmark, the autonomous Greenland government, the European Union and several European countries rejected Trump’s claims.
