During an operation in the STVR building in Bratislava last year, police officers discovered two kilos of various drugs and more than 100,000 euros in cash. Illegal substances were hidden in the coffered ceiling of warehouse number 23. Peter, who worked in television in the field of IT, and his partner Andrej appeared in court. The couple is facing drug charges. The prosecutor proposed a 9-year sentence for Peter and a 6-year sentence for Andrej. They faced up to 20 years in prison. Both confessed. “The client regretted it, it’s a mistake he made. He is aware of this and it is such a bad step in his life that he will carry with him for the rest of his life, but he believes that he will make amends and lead a proper life after his release,” said Petrov’s defense attorney Ladislav Hrubčín.
The former STVR employee cried several times in front of the court. According to his own words, he got involved in the drug business because he wanted to belong somewhere and that’s how he was looking for friends. He added that he did not sell cocaine for profit. He declared that he was sorry for everything.
“We considered that there was a preponderance of mitigating circumstances and we consider this punishment to be disproportionately severe, but we will see what the final decision of the court will be,” added Hrubčín. Andrej’s defense attorney Pavol Gavara added that they would fight for the lowest possible sentence. The verdict is scheduled for February 9.
