Palmeiras is keeping an eye on the market and made an offer for Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada. The player has already played in Brazilian football, playing for Botafogo, and currently plays for Atlético de Madrid.
According to journalist Gastón Edul, Palmeiras made a formal proposal for the player and is the club that has made the most progress in negotiations. It is very likely that he will leave Atlético de Madrid this summer.
According to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, Verdão offered 20 million euros (R$125 million) for 50% of the athlete’s economic rights. According to the report, Atlético de Madrid considers the proposal acceptable.
At the beginning of the month there was interest from Grêmio. According to UOL Esporte, the team contacted Atlético de Madrid and expressed their desire to obtain the player on loan, with an option to buy. The Spanish team, however, vetoed the possibility.

Almada’s performance at Atlético de Madrid
Hired for around R$194 million, Almada lost space in the Spanish team. In the current season, the midfielder made 16 appearances, but only played 587 minutes. The player wants to regain his leading role with an eye on the 2026 World Cup.
Journalist Pedro Fullana, from Cadena Ser, stated that the main factor against Almada’s continuation in the Spanish team is the great competition in the positions in which he usually plays.
Atlético de Madrid has several similar options in the offensive sector and midfield, such as Raspadori, Álex Baena and Nico González, as well as Pablo Barrios and Conor Gallagher.
