The entanglements around the Nobel Peace Prize: A strong STOP for Trump, Machado will not get away with this

The Norwegian Nobel Institute announced on Friday that its Nobel Peace Prize cannot be shared, taken away or transferred to someone else. He expressed his opinion following the statements of the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Corina Machado’s Maria, in which she indicated that she might give hers to US President Donald Trump. TASR informs about it according to a Reuters report.

  • The Norwegian Nobel Institute has confirmed that the Nobel Peace Prize cannot be transferred.
  • Machadova indicated that she could present her award to Donald Trump.

The institute said in a statement that the decision to award someone the Nobel Peace Prize is final and permanent under the statutes. “Once the Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be taken away, shared or transferred to others. The decision is final and applies forever,” it said in a statement on Friday.

Machado on Monday in an interview with Sean Hannity from Fox News said that presenting the prize to Trump would be an act of gratitude to the Venezuelan people for removing President Nicolás Maduro. He was captured last week by United States troops during an operation in Caracas and taken to New York.

“Did you ever offer him the Nobel Peace Prize? Did that happen?” Hannity asked. Machado replied that it “hasn’t happened yet”. Responding to the interview, Trump said he would be honored to accept the award if last year’s laureate offered it to him during their meeting in Washington next week.
