The president of , , said he preferred the election of a member of the Bolsonaro family in Brazil to “a solution with 21st century socialism”, in reference to President Lula (PT).
Milei has been strengthening his alliance with the former president’s clan and the opposition to the PT member as the elections in Brazil approach and recent elections, in and in , marked the defeat of left-wing governments.
Tensions with Lula increased after Milei published, after José Antonio Kast’s victory in Chile, a map showing Brazil and which generated criticism from the Brazilian government.
In a CNN interview with Milei, given before the arrest of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, the Argentine addressed the situation in Venezuela and criticized Lula for his search for diplomatic solutions.
The endorsement of , arrested for an attempted coup, for a candidacy of the senator (PL-RJ) in the presidential elections of October 2026 also did not go unnoticed by the Argentine.
On the TV program, Milei criticized what he called “21st century socialism”, this ideology, as it does not face the consequences of its actions. He made it clear that he is not interested in discussing issues with Lula.
He also stated that, although this year’s elections are a Brazilian issue, he personally preferred Bolsonarism to return to power in Brazil. “I have friends in Brazil. The Bolsonaros. If you remove me from the role of politician, I prefer a solution with the Bolsonaros and not a solution with 21st century socialism,” said the Argentine.
The interview was carried out on December 30th, but excerpts of it were circulated last Saturday (10th), while the full video was released this Sunday (11th).

“Before, in Argentina there was a president who said that Brazilians came from the jungle. Today, Milei is taking Argentina out of its worst economic and moral crisis.”
Flavio, in turn, reaffirmed his certainty about the victory and the prospect of a solid commercial partnership between Argentina and Brazil, thanking Milei in his posts.
Despite the affinity between Bolsonarism and the Milei government, in December, the Court ordered this Wednesday (3) the extradition of those who were fugitives from Brazilian Justice and the Casa Rosada had already signaled that it would comply with court decisions. There is still an appeal.
