The White House Press Secretary, , stated this Monday (12) that it is up to the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to say whether the president of the Federal Reserve (Fed), , is a criminal. “It’s up to justice to say whether Powell is a criminal,” she commented in an interview with Fox News. The Fed president reported on Sunday (11), via video, that the US Department of Justice had opened a criminal investigation related to his testimony in the US Congress last year regarding the renovation of the Central Bank’s headquarters.

The investigations take place amid frequent requests and threats for the monetary institution to cut interest rates. Leavitt also commented that the Republican president “is not afraid to use force against Iran” amid the recent crackdown on protests in the country. Regarding Trump’s agenda, she confirmed that he and the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, María Corina Machado, winner of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, should meet this Thursday and that the president will visit a Ford Motors factory on Tuesday (13).
