United States President Donald Trump told Iranians on Tuesday (13) to continue protesting and stated that “help is on the way”, but did not give details.
“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING — OCCUPY YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!… HELP IS ON THE WAY,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
The American president added that he has canceled all measures until the “senseless murder” of protesters ends.
A US-based human rights organization said on Tuesday that the number of protesters with at least 16,784 people arrested.
An Iranian official told the Reuters news agency that they were killed in the protests, marking the first time that authorities have acknowledged the high number of victims resulting from the intense repression.
The Iranian official, speaking to Reuters, said people he called terrorists were responsible for the deaths of both protesters and members of the security forces. He, who asked not to be identified, did not provide details about who was killed.
