One day after being fired from Real Madrid, coach Xabi Alonso published a farewell message on his social media this Tuesday (13), acknowledging that he would have liked to have had a different time at the club.
“This professional stage is coming to an end, and it didn’t end as we would have liked,” wrote Alonso on his Instagram account.
“Coaching Real Madrid was an honor and a responsibility”, continued the coach, who was fired after the 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, on Sunday (11), in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Finally, Alonso thanked the board, players and fans for their trust: “I thank the club, the players and, above all, the fans and Madrid fans for their trust and support. I leave with respect, gratitude and pride in having given my best.”
