Benfica files a complaint with the FPF for “disgraceful treatment” of fans after the game against FC Porto

The ‘red’ club criticizes the security procedures that forced fans to take off their shoes on wet ground, causing delays that led many to only reach their seats in the second half of the game between Benfica and FC Porto, in the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup.

Benfica announced on Wednesday that it will file a complaint with against what he considers to be the “disgraceful treatment” of his fans at the FC Porto stadium, in the Portuguese Cup game.

“Benfica fans were forced to take off their shoes on a wet floor, in a procedure that is not foreseen in any regulation and whose sole purpose was to humiliate the Benfica fans, among whom were several elderly people”, the club said in a statement.

Benfica also adds that many of the fans only managed to get to their seats “with the second half already underway”.

“This is absolutely unacceptable behavior on the part of those responsible for security at FC Porto, which, unfortunately, has become a repeated practice whenever Benfica plays games at this stadium”, he concluded.
