The North American Government’s strategy in the face of demonstrations against the Donald Trump government’s persecution of immigrants this week involved manipulating the photograph of an activist, but it appears that the White House also changed the appearance of Alex Pretti, the American working for the country’s Immigration Services (ICE) this Saturday.
The image of the protester, digitally altered and published by the White House on Thursday, shows the woman involved in the interruption of a religious service in the state of Minnesota last weekend, crying as she is detained. But an earlier version of the image, also published by an official government account, showed the protester looking calmly straight ahead, without any tears or crying expression.
When asked about the publication, the White House indirectly admitted that the image had been altered: it referred to a message on X from Kaelan Dorr, deputy director of communications, who wrote “The memes will continue.”
