Deputy leader of the Opposition in the Chamber claims to have the signatures of more than 200 congressmen
The deputy (PL-RJ) said this Monday (2.Feb.2026) that he will file, on Tuesday (3.Feb), the request for the creation of the CPMI (Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) do Banco Master. According to Jordy, who is deputy leader of the Opposition in the Chamber, the request has 275 signatures.
The request must be analyzed by the president of the Senate, (União Brasil-AP), who is in charge of choosing the committee’s rapporteur. The creation of a Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry in Congress depends on compliance with formal requirements set out in the Constitution. The membership of 171 deputies and 27 senators is required.
MASTER CASE
The Federal Police are investigating a billion-dollar fraud scheme against the financial system involving Banco Master and its executives. The case is in the Supreme Court, under the report of Minister Dias Toffoli. The magistrate is the one who will decide whether the case continues in the Court or goes to the 1st Instance.
According to investigations, the scheme consisted of the sale of high-yield fixed income securities, such as CDBs (Bank Deposit Certificates), which were used to finance investment funds in which the bank was the sole shareholder. The MPF (Federal Public Ministry) states that the business was based on circulating assets without wealth, artificially forging financial results.
