Anchieta-Imigrantes will have a new toll system starting this Saturday (7)

From this Saturday (7), drivers who use the Anchieta-Imigrantes System will see the first changes in the way of paying tolls. The concessionaire Ecovias Imigrantes will carry out the installation of electronic gantries that will replace physical squares and begin the transition to the system Follow Easymodel without gates and without the need to stop vehicles.

The first equipment will be installed at km 33 of Via Anchieta and, at this time, there will be no charge yet. The current toll plaza, located at km 31, will continue to operate until the new system is ready to go into operation. The premise is that the system guarantees more fluidity and safety in traffic, especially during busy periods.

On the Imigrantes Highway, a second portico must be installed by the end of the monthat km 29, replacing the square at km 32. As in Anchieta, the structure will initially be positioned only for installation and testing purposes, without charging starting. Look:

O will continue to be done exclusively in the existing square, as the forecast is that the Siga Fácil starts operating only in July.

With the implementation of the gantries, the concessionaire begins the monitoring and testing phase with cameras, sensors and antennas. At the same time, it also carries out studies to modernize the Operation Trainwhich adopts a more dynamic and technological model to guarantee the safety of drivers in situations of intense fog on the mountain stretch.

Once the system is running, the Billing will become electronic and bidirectionalreplacing the current model concentrated in just one direction.

Today, the Anchieta-Imigrantes System fare is R$38.70. With the change, the cost will be R$ 19.35 on the way down (towards the Coast) and R$ 19.35 on the way up (towards São Paulo). The driver will only pay in the direction in which he uses the highway and motorcyclists remain exempt from the charge, according to current rules.

The expectation is that the new model will eliminate the long queues that form at toll plazas, especially on holidays and in high season.

Siga Fácil is the São Paulo Government system that replaces squares with gates with a without the need to stop vehicles. The entry into operation of charging depends on the completion of the technical stages, the carrying out of operational tests and the authorization of Artesp (Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo), responsible for supervising concession contracts.

The charging start date, according to the SSP (Public Security Secretariat), will be announced after this validation and prior communication to users.

Operation Train

Even after Siga Fácil begins, there will be a transition period. The physical structures of the toll plazas will be temporarily maintained so that the traditional Convoy Operation continues to be used in situations of intense fog.

Artesp analyzes a new technical solution that eliminates the mandatory stopping of vehicles. The model, considered unprecedented on Brazilian highways, involves the use of intelligent electronic panels capable of automatically identifying fog levels and adjusting signaling in real time.

Based on this information, speed limits will be adapted to visibility conditions, allowing drivers to travel along the stretch in a safe and oriented manner.

The toll plazas will only be removed after the approval and definitive implementation of this new system.

Government Investments

In approximately 30 years of concession, the claims to have invested R$10.2 billion in works to improve and expand the infrastructure of the Anchieta-Imigrantes System. Among the projects are the construction of the second lane of the Rodovia dos Imigrantes, the Cubatão ring road and the two phases of improvements to the Entrance of Santos.

Currently, studies are underway to implement a new access to the Port of Santos and a new exit in the Alemoa neighborhood, also in Santos, onto Rodovia Anchieta.

At the request of the Government of São Paulo, the concessionaire is also developing the project for the third lane of Rodovia dos Imigrantes, which should create a new connection between the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo and Baixada Santista. The new track will be 21.5 kilometers long, with 17 kilometers in tunnels and 4 kilometers in viaducts.

The project also includes the largest road tunnel in the country, approximately 6 kilometers long. According to the concessionaire, the project should increase the capacity of the mountain section by 25% in total and by 145% when considering only the descent of trucks.

The projects are not part of the original concession contract and depend on definitions and authorizations from the state government for operation.
