In Pedrógão Grande, there is a lack of manpower to repair what was damaged by Storm Kristin. A group of immigrants, most of them German, have set to work.
In the village of Covais, in Pedrógrão Grande, there are still people who remain isolated and without electricity. A week after Storm Kristin, there are houses like Nádia Marques’s, where power has not yet been restored.
“Fortunately the stove is gas. It has been heating water cylinders, the houses are cold and soaked”, he tells SIC.
In a region where around 80% of houses were damageda most of them Germans, who have rebuilt homes damaged by the storm.
For Nádia, whose only companion is her dog, Gutis, the help from the group of volunteers was essential. Without them, the roof would remain unpatched e a crain would continue to fall indoors.
