After the death of a 54-year-old patient from the Mühlviertel, who waited in vain for admission to a special hospital with an aortic rupture in October of the previous year, an external commission of experts has highlighted serious structural deficiencies in the Upper Austrian health system. According to the test report, the fatal outcome could hardly have been prevented even if everything had been carried out optimally, but the results still reveal deficits in organization, communication and coordination between the hospitals.
