Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo – The conflict between Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is coming to a head and could escalate at Thursday’s race. While the IOC insists on its position that Heraskewytsch’s helmet with the images of killed athletes violates the guidelines, the 27-year-old sees it differently. “The IOC has turned the situation surrounding the ‘Helmet of Remembrance’ into an absurd piece of theater,” said Heraskewytsch on Wednesday.
