NATO launches mission in the Arctic: “Deterrent effect without being provocative”

It is considered a big concession to the current resident of the White House: The fact that NATO launched its operation called “Arctic Sentry” on Wednesday is primarily due to threats from Donald Trump, who wanted to annex Greenland to the USA because he saw the largest island in the world surrounded by Russian and Chinese warships. Although the United States is currently the only country threatening Greenland, the US armed forces are too important for the defense alliance to scare Trump away. Increasing its presence in the Arctic is intended to appease the US president and ensure Greenland’s status quo.
