BTG Pactual announces acquisition of up to 48% of fintech meutudo

(Reuters) – BTG ⁠Pactual announced this ⁠Thursday the completion of the transaction ‌for the acquisition of up to 48% of the digital ‌credit platform meutudo, in another step by the largest investment bank in Latin America to expand its ⁠operation ‌in retail.

Founded in 2019, ⁠the fintech has already originated more than R$20 billion in credit, serving more than 19 million customers. Of this total, more than R$10 billion were originated in the form of the new private consignment, according to the BTG statement.

‘This transaction, subject to regulatory approvals, reinforces our retail expansion strategy and expands our ability to offer affordable, responsible and high-quality credit to millions of consumers’, stated the executive president of ⁠BTG Pactual, Roberto Sallouti.

The partnership between the two institutions had already been built over the last few years. During this period, ​BTG Pactual ⁠was responsible for more than 80% ⁠of the funding used to originate meutudo, supporting its growth with stability, governance and scalability.
