Trump ends deportation operation in Minnesota

Decision marks the end of the operation that sent thousands of agents and led to the death of 2 US citizens

The President of the United States, (Republican Party), agreed to end the mass deportation operation in the State of Minnesota. The announcement was made, this Thursday (12.Feb.2026), by Tom Homan, the “cleave the border”, during in Minneapolis.

The measure marks the end of the , started in December 2025, which sent 2,700 members of ICE (United States Immigration and Customs Service). The action caused strong local resistance and resulted in the death of by federal agents.

I have proposed, and President Trump has agreed, that this reinforcement operation be completed“, stated Homan. “A significant withdrawal of agents has already begun this week and will continue next week”, he concluded.

On February 4, Homan announced that 700 ICE agents would be removed from the state. The remaining troops, deployed from other states, will return to their original jurisdictions in the coming weeks.

According to the agency before the increase in the number of agents due to the operation, around 150 immigration agents worked in Minnesota.

The Trump administration’s anti-immigration offensive has been harshly criticized by local officials, such as the governor and mayor of Minneapolis, both from the Democratic Party.
