Federal Supreme Court Minister Dias Toffoli asked to leave the report on investigations related to Banco Master. The information is contained in a document released by the Court this Thursday (12).
According to the official record, the magistrate himself requested the redistribution of the case to another member of the court, citing “high institutional interests”. The expectation is that the new rapporteur will be defined by draw today.
The move occurs on the same day that the STF ministers would meet, at the initiative of the President of the Court, Edson Fachin, to discuss the request for suspicion presented by the Federal Police against Toffoli. The PF’s request questioned the minister’s continued conduct of the case.

In the document released by the Supreme Court, it is also recorded that all acts already carried out by Toffoli in the process remain valid.
According to behind-the-scenes information revealed by G1, the ministers would have reached an agreement whereby Toffoli would step aside from the case and the others would reject the allegation of suspicion against him, a kind of questioning of the impartiality of a magistrate.
The STF note says “it is not appropriate to raise suspicion”. The text also says that the ministers recognize “the full validity of the acts carried out by Minister Dias Toffoli” and express “personal support for the Honorable Minister Dias Toffoli, respecting the dignity of His Excellency, as well as the absence of suspicion or impediment”.

Toffoli had already been facing criticism regarding his role in the case, but his situation became more difficult after the Federal Police handed over to the president of the STF, Edson Fachin, a report containing an exchange of messages between the owner of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro, and his brother-in-law Fabiano Zettel. In the conversation they discuss payments to the company Maridt, of which minister Dias Toffoli is a partner.
On Thursday afternoon, Toffoli confirmed that he is a partner in the company, but stated that he does not participate in the administration, which is carried out by relatives. He also denied having any personal or financial relationship with Vorcaro.
