The São Paulo Military Police concluded a new phase of Operation Impacto against drug trafficking with the arrest of 245 people across the state. The action, which began on Friday (13) and carried out in partnership with the Civil Police, also resulted in the arrest of 63 teenagers and the collection of more than 250 kilos of drugs, as well as weapons and money.
The operation mobilized all units of the corporation, including Police Special Actions Battalions (Baep), Tactical Force, Shock Command and Radio Patrol. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), focus was on drug sales points identified by police intelligence, with actions to flagrant possession and sale of illicit substances.
Among the seizures are 140.5 kg of marijuana, 47.6 kg of cocaine, 17.5 kg of crack and 58.9 kg of other drugs. Security forces also collected nine illegal firearms and R$34,000 in cash.
The operation was planned to take place before Carnival, aiming to reinforce the fight against trafficking, which, according to authorities, fuels other crimes such as theft, robbery and money laundering, in addition to generating serious social and family impacts.
The Military Highway Police intensified inspections on highways to block drug transport routes. The actions were based on intelligence surveys that mapped suspicious addresses.
