The Government asks the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate Meta, Tiktok and X for spreading child pornography with their AI tools
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that this Tuesday the Government will ask the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the crimes that digital platforms “could be committing due to the creation and dissemination of child pornography through their AI”, their generative artificial intelligence tools. “These platforms are attacking the mental health, dignity and rights of our sons and daughters. The State cannot allow it. The impunity of the giants must end,” the president wrote in X.
Sánchez announced two weeks ago that the Government will prohibit access to social networks for those under 16 years of age, due to the implications that being exposed to hateful and inappropriate content has for their mental health. “Social media has become a failed state, where laws are ignored and crimes are tolerated,” he said. For this reason, he announced the push for the measure to prohibit access to platforms by minors under 16, which is currently being processed in Congress. “We will protect them from the digital Wild West,” he said.
