Six people ended up in the hospital after a fire in an apartment building in the village of Lemešany. As Martina Fröhlich Činovská from the Operations Center of the Emergency Medical Service of the Slovak Republic told TASR, three emergency medical service ambulances were sent to the scene.
“Five people were treated on the spot after inhaling carbon monoxide. Six people were transported to hospitals in Prešov and Košice with breathing problems and burns,” said Fröhlich Činovská.
Nine firefighters with three pieces of firefighting equipment responded to the fire in the apartment building. As the mayor of Lemešany Marko Bučko told TASR, the apartment on the ground floor caught fire and the entire apartment building was engulfed in smoke. Approximately 144 people live in an apartment building with 12 apartments.
