Goalkeeper Bruno, 41, former Flamengo player, sentenced to 22 years for the triple murder of model Eliza Samudio, which occurred in 2010, will return to the national football elite this Thursday (18). Hired by Vasco-AC, he will make his debut against Velo Clube, at Arena da Floresta, at 9pm, in the first phase of the Copa do Brasil.
This Wednesday, his name was registered in the CBF’s BID (Daily Newsletter), gaining the status to play for the Vasco team.
It will be the player’s second stint in Acre football. In 2020, he defended Rio Branco, for which he played in the second round of the 2020 Acreano Championship and also in the Brazilian Series D.
The period was also marked by controversies. Shortly after announcing the signing of the goalkeeper, a supermarket chain in the capital of Acre announced the suspension of sponsorship, and then coach Rose Costa, who would work with women’s football, left the club.
In September 2020, the goalkeeper was forced to wear an electronic ankle bracelet. After an appeal, he obtained an injunction authorizing removal before training and games.
Bruno was sentenced to more than 22 years in prison for the crimes of murder, hiding a body, kidnapping and false imprisonment of Eliza Samudio, with whom he had a son, Bruninho Samudio — now a goalkeeper for Botafogo’s youth teams.
Arrested in 2013, three years after the crime, he progressed to the semi-open regime in 2019 and has been on parole since January 2023.
