Acre recorded more than 4,000 incidents on the power grid caused by lightning in 2025

Acre registrou mais de 4 mil ocorrências na rede elétrica causadas por raios em 2025

From January to December 2025, it surpassed the mark of 4 thousand occurrences caused by atmospheric discharges, better known as lightning. As it is mostly installed in an aerial environment, the electrical network is more exposed to the action of natural phenomena, especially during the rainy season.

According to data from, in 2024, more than 3,700 incidents related to lightning strikes were recorded, which affected 210,500 customers in the state. Last year, the number of occurrences rose to 4.6 thousand, reaching almost 220 thousand customers, which demonstrates an increase in the incidence of this type of event.

The intensification of storms, characteristic of the rainy season, brings direct impacts to the electrical network, which, being in an aerial environment, is more exposed to the action of atmospheric discharges, strong winds and thrown objects. To reduce these effects, Energisa Acre maintains an annual preventive maintenance plan, with continuous actions such as inspection of structures, vegetation management, technical pruning and ongoing training of teams.

The Coordinator of the Energisa Acre Operations Center, Jhony Poças, highlights that these initiatives are fundamental to strengthening the system in the face of climate events. “We work preventively throughout the year, with continuous maintenance and prepared teams, to reduce the impacts of storms and ensure greater safety and agility in customer service. Furthermore, since Energisa arrived in Acre, a lot of investment has been made in the network, but during this period too, the region has been impacted by increasingly severe weather events”, says the coordinator.

In addition to preventive actions, the Distributor also works with a specific contingency plan for periods of storms, which mobilizes different areas of the company to guarantee a quick response before, during and after each occurrence. Measures include operational reinforcement, logistical support, information technology support, additional teams in the field and, when necessary, provision of generator sets.

This set of measures is reinforced by continuous investments in modernizing the electrical system. By the end of 2025, Energisa Acre had invested R$2.4 billion in infrastructure improvements, construction of new substations, modernization of equipment and adoption of technologies that allow the automatic reconnection of sections of the network, speeding up the restoration of energy even before full completion of field services.
