Requests questioned BRB’s attempt to acquire the financial institution
The president of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF), Wellington Luiz (MDB), filed three impeachment requests presented against governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB).
In orders published in this Friday’s (20) edition of the Legislative Chamber Gazette, Wellington reported that he had received opinions from the House Attorney General’s Office in favor of filing the complaints.
The representations were filed at the end of January by PSB, PSOL, PDT and Cidadania and are based on the scandal involving Banco Master. The requests questioned the attempt by Banco Regional de Brasília (BRB) to acquire the financial institution. The operation was blocked by the Central Bank (BC) in September last year.
The requests were presented after Estadão revealed that the owner of Banco Master, Daniel Vorcaro,. The governor later confirmed that he met with the businessman, but denied having discussed the operation.
Wellington Luiz is part of the same party as Ibaneis and is a political ally of the governor.
In addition to the initiatives in the CLDF, five parties – PT, Rede, PDT, PCdoB and PV – filed on January 26, at the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), a piece of factual news asking for the investigation of possible common crimes and acts of improbity administrative duties attributed to the governor in the context of the BRB-Master case.
The acronyms also defend the removal of Ibaneis of the position to avoid interference and guarantee the fairness of the investigations.
O Banco Master case is being processed at the Federal Supreme Court (STF)under the report of minister André Mendonça, after the quote from deputy João Carlos Bacelar (PL-BA) appeared in seized documents.
The case was being processed at the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF-1) and reached the STF at the request of Daniel Vorcaro’s defense, who claimed the existence of an authority with privileged jurisdiction.
