The government of Canada summoned high-ranking representatives from OpenAI after it became public that the company did not share internal concerns about a boy who staged a school shooting in the country, Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon said on Monday.
Earlier this month, an 18-year-old man with mental health problems shot eight people at a school in the west of the country and then committed suicide. OpenAI said it banned the killer’s ChatGPT account last year for policy violations that the company said did not meet internal criteria for reporting to law enforcement authorities.
“I’ve called on the senior security team from OpenAI to come here to Ottawa… we’re going to have a meeting to get an explanation of their security protocols,” Solomon told journalists.
