Party indicates that new national bodies will be elected at this major meeting and changes to the statutes may also be voted on.
Chega’s National Directorate will propose holding the party’s next convention on the 8th, 9th and 10th of May, to elect new bodies, months after André Ventura announced his re-candidacy for leadership.
The current president of the party explained that he is moving towards re-candidacy for the leadership of Chega in search of “electoral victories”.
“I decided to run again because I understand that this candidacy means the continuity of the work we have done so far to lead the party to electoral victories”, confessed André Ventura this Monday, in a press conference at the party headquarters.
At the last Chega National Council, on September 12, André Ventura announced his re-candidacy for the party presidency.
On the same note, the Chega indicates that new national bodies will be elected at this major meeting and changes to the party’s statutes may also be voted on, and it is also mentioned that the Election of delegates will take place on April 18th and 19th.
A The party’s last National Convention took place in January 2024in Viana do Castelo, and the election of Chega’s national bodies in that main meeting was invalidated by the Constitutional Court (TC).
The same had been decided in relation to the previous convention, which took place a year earlier, in Santarém. THE TC has also been ‘disapproving’ the successive changes to the party’s statutesso the original ones are currently valid.
