Electronic music becomes Intangible Cultural Heritage of São Paulo; understand

Electronic music reached a new level by winning the title of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the State of São Paulo. Sanctioned on February 13, State Law No. 18,400 officially recognizes the importance of the musical genre for São Paulo society.

Deputy Caio França (PSB) was responsible for raising the , which was later approved by the Legislative Assembly of SP (Alesp).

With this new nomenclature, electronic music is recognized as a cultural manifestation that actively impacts the city. This is not the first style to become the state’s heritage; hip hop, samba and funk are also considered.
