The national president of PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, stated that former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) was not previously consulted about the articulation surrounding a possible presidential candidacy of senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and that she is still “adjusting” to the decision.
The PL leader and the national president of União Brasil participated in a dinner with businesspeople in the city of São Paulo. The event was organized by the Esfera Brasil group. When talking about Michelle, the leader stated that the “comparison” with First Lady Rosângela Lula da Silva, Janja, ends up favoring Michelle politically. “The comparison helps her a lot,” he said.
“She is facing a very serious problem: she has to bring lunch to Bolsonaro every day. She was not consulted about this decision involving Flávio and is still adjusting,” said Valdemar. “When we start talking in Brasília, Flávio talking to her, us talking to her, she will join the campaign in earnest.”
According to Valdemar, Michelle is facing a delicate moment, including on a personal level, and the family needs to be united in the face of the situation of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The leader stated that he did not believe that Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) would authorize Bolsonaro to serve a possible home sentence before the elections and assessed that, in case of defeat, the former president could remain away from public life for another eight years.
Valdemar attributed part of the internal disagreements to the difficulty of direct dialogue with Jair Bolsonaro. Even so, he stated that the situation will be adjusted with dialogue between Flávio, Michelle and the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans). According to him, he has already received a message from Eduardo Bolsonaro stating that the former parliamentarian will “get it right” in his relationship with Tarcísio.
The leader acknowledged that he may have made a mistake when he recently declared that three names were central to the campaign: deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), Tarcísio and Michelle.
