Hero dog bites attacker and saves owner from attempted kidnapping in Spain

A dog prevented a kidnapping attempt in Polinyà del Xúquer, in the Valencia region, by attacking one of the attackers and saving his owner inside her own house. The case happened on October 30, but it has only now become public, after the release of video surveillance images.

Records show four men standing at the door of the victim’s home. According to the woman’s report, when she opened the door she felt a violent push and one of the individuals forced her way into the house, grabbed her by the arm and tried to take her with him. At that moment, the family dog reacted immediately and bit the attacker on the leg, forcing him to flee. The other three suspects, who were waiting outside, also escaped.

The animal’s actions were decisive in stopping the crime and preventing the kidnapping. The Spanish authorities, through the Guardia Civil, ended up arresting the four involved. One of the suspects was identified after going to a health center to treat injuries compatible with dog bites, which raised suspicions.

According to the investigation, the main attacker is a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen. Video surveillance images and the description provided by the victim helped with his identification. According to the Spanish press, the crime may be linked to the economic situation of the woman’s partner, with the objective allegedly being kidnapping to extort money.
