According to the official calendar, the commission will hear witnesses until March 19th and vote on the final report on the 26th.
The Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI), which investigates the National Social Security Institute (INSS) fraud requested the president of the National Congress, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), extension of the closing period of activities. The group needs to complete the final report by March 28.
On Monday (23), the president of the INSS CPMI, senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), filed a request for Alcolumbre. The parliamentarian asked for “appropriate measures to regulate the continuation” of the request made by the committee of extension of deadline for another 60 days.
According to the official calendar of activities for 2026, CPMI will hear witnesses until March 19. On the 23rd, the presentation and reading of the final report is scheduled. Voting on the document was scheduled for the 26th.
INSS CPMI
Installed on August 20th, the INSS CPMI held 32 meetings until this Thursday (26). In this final stretch, the commission is focused on analyze fraud in payroll loanswith suspicions of harassment, concession without consent and fraudulent renewals that generated unpayable debts. In 2025, the committee heard Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, who became known as the “Careca do INSS”.
The commission’s rapporteur, deputy Alfredo Gaspar (União Brasil-AL), described Antunes as “author of the biggest robbery of retirees and pensioners in the history of Brazil”. According to data collected by CPMI, the “Bald on INSS” would be the operator of the scheme and would have generated R$24.5 million in five months.
