Bolsonaro says in letter that Pollon will be a candidate for the Senate – 02/28/2026 – Politics

The former president (PL) nominated federal deputy Marcos Pollon (PL) as a pre-candidate for the Senate for Mato Grosso do Sul. The announcement was made in a letter published this Saturday (28) by former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) on social media.

In the document, the former president also states that he is responsible for defining the list of PL pre-candidates for the Senate and that the list will soon be released.

The release of the letter followed those made by the pre-candidate for President (PL-RJ) during a summit meeting which revealed the party’s plans in this year’s elections, as well as opinions about the candidates.

A note made by Flávio says: “Pollon (asked for 15 million not to be a candidate)”. After the phrase was released, Flávio declared that the request never occurred and that he made the note to warn the deputy that “they were falsely publicizing this”.

In the letter published by Michelle on social media, former president Bolsonaro states that Pollon was chosen for his “character, honor and dedication”.

“I will soon publish a list of our pre-candidates for the Senate in Brazil. By delegation from President Valdemar, this list would be my responsibility. I can say that for Mato Grosso do Sul, due to his character, honor and dedication as a federal deputy, my candidate will be Marcos Pollon”, states the letter signed by Bolsonaro.

The letter was written from Papudinha, where the 27-year-old former president attempted a coup d’état.

When publishing the document, Michelle said that she was with Bolsonaro this Saturday and that, at his request, she announced Pollon’s nomination for the Senate race. “I fully trust in God that every lie created to denigrate the Deputy’s image will be unmasked. The truth will prevail”, wrote the former first lady.

Michelle’s publication received messages of support from Pollon and Carlos Bolsonaro (PL), who is expected to contest a seat in Santa Catarina in the Senate.

Notes made by Flávio Bolsonaro also expose opinions about the candidates that are not made known to the public. THE Sheet obtained access to the text, which is titled “situation in the states” and contains a printed list of possible competitors along with several handwritten notes. On Wednesday (25), Flávio admitted to being the author of the notes, which are in the first person, but said that many opinions recorded there were not his, but those of other participants in the meeting.

“The notes they had on that piece of paper are not what I think. The people I talked to talked about their impressions, their opinions, and I wrote them down on that paper so that, in a second moment, I could take advantage of what people were saying to me or not,” said Flávio.
