Confirmed! The mayor of Bratislava Vallo and the head of BSK Droba will defend their posts

  • Matúš Vallo announced his third candidacy for mayor of Bratislava on Monday.
  • Juraj Droba is once again running for president of the Bratislava self-governing region for the third time.
  • Both are candidates for the four-party coalition Team Bratislava PS SaS and Democrats.

Bratislava Mayor Matúš Vallo officially announced his re-candidacy on Monday. He is running for the position for the third time, so it will be the second time he defends the position. Juraj Droba, the current head of the region, will also be running for the post of chairman of the Bratislava Self-Governing Region (BSK) for the third time. Both are candidates of the four-coalition Team Bratislava, PS, SaS and Democrats. They announced it at a joint press conference.

“I fell in love with something we call public service. I enjoy and fulfill myself to make life better,” stated Vallo, repeating that his team has enough energy and good ideas.

According to him, a lot of things have been achieved in eight years. He talked about transparent and functioning city enterprises, a lot of investments, but also about reducing the capital city’s debt, about drawing European funds, in which Bratislava is the winner, as well as transport projects. He emphasized that security remains a priority. He still plans to present the election program, but he mentioned the tram project to Borov or Plató Staromestská.

The current head of the region, Juraj Droba, still wants to fight not against anyone, but for the residents of the Bratislava region. He describes his re-candidacy as an official commitment. “For the last eight years, we have been working hard,” noted Droba, mentioning projects in the fields of education, transport and culture. According to his own words, he enjoys building a quality home together for everyone. The ambition is to make Bratislava and the Bratislava region a hub for the rest of Slovakia. He announces that he plans to present the election program for the next four years later.

Bratislava city and regional parliamentarians have already announced their candidacy for the post of head of Bratislava Martin Winkler (Danube side) and longtime mayor of Karlova Ves Dana Čahojová (independent). The name of the Minister of Transport is also inflected Jozef Ráž (Smeru-SD nominee), who has not yet confirmed or denied his candidacy. She will also apply for the post of chairwoman of BSK Zuzana Krajčovičováwho is a candidate of the non-parliamentary party Right to the Truth.
