An investigation by the NOW channel is generating strong controversy on social media by revealing a scheme to promote illegal online casinos in Portugal.
The report, part of the Repórter Sábado program, exposes how digital influencers and former participants in reality shows were promoting illegal gaming platforms in exchange for amounts considered millionaires.
According to the investigation, these public figures were using their notoriety to attract followers to unlicensed casinos, exploiting the vulnerability of people with gambling addiction problems. The report denounces aggressive digital marketing practices, commission schemes and an organized structure of illegal promotion, described as a business based on “selling other people’s misfortune”.
