They are there… and their presence is already reflected in the State’s accounts. Last year, revenue from fines under the Brazilian Traffic Code grew 22.8%, to R$86.9 million.

Despite this 22.8% growth, the amount was still below the value initially included in the State Budget for 2025, which predicted revenues of R$99.2 million.
The numbers were reported this Tuesday by , which highlights that the fines were driven by a significant increase in road inspection and the entry into operation of new radars.
Road inspection increased 26.5% compared to 2024, with emphasis on the GNR performancewhose inspection through the National Speed Control System (SINCRO) recorded an increase of 193.5%.
In addition to the GNR, says JN, there were increases in inspection carried out by the PSP (9.7% increase) and the Lisbon Municipal Police (+99%).
According to the State Budget proposal for 2026, the Government expects to raise 113.5 million euros in fines and traffic fines.
As the morning newspaper states, the forecasts are based on three parameters: continued reinforcement of supervision; consolidation of the operation of new radars; and improving the management of administrative offense processes.
