Moraes and Dino vote to keep Bolsonaro in Papudinha – 03/05/2026 – Politics

The ministers and of the (Federal Supreme Court) voted to keep the former president (PL) detained in the 19th Military Police Battalion of the Federal District, known as Papudinha.

Dino followed the vote of Moraes, who last Monday (2) donated to Bolsonaro, pointing out that the prison has sufficient infrastructure to meet the former president’s medical needs.

The virtual plenary trial ends this Thursday (5) and involves the First Panel of the STF. Ministers will still vote.

The former president’s defense asks the STF to grant , considering that Bolsonaro has faced a series of medical procedures and health problems in recent years.

More recently, the politician fell into a cell at the Federal Police Superintendency. Previously, he underwent surgery to correct an inguinal hernia and unblock his intestines – the condition is a consequence of the knife attack during the 2018 election campaign.

In Monday’s decision, Moraes points out that Bolsonaro received 144 medical care in Papudinha between January 15th and February 27th. It also mentions 13 physiotherapy sessions, 33 physical activity sessions and “permanent visits” from family members without the need for judicial authorization.

Moraes brings to the decision the results of a PF medical examination that denies depression, points to good neurological conditions, improved sleep, and a stable general clinical condition of the former president. The report says that, although the health situation is complex, Bolsonaro’s conditions do not require hospital care.

Finally, the minister alludes to the episode in which Bolsonaro wore his electronic ankle bracelet. “Therefore, the presence of exceptional requirements for the granting of humanitarian house arrest is not verified, in view of non-compliance with precautionary measures, concrete acts of attempted escape and […] the result of the official medical examination.”
