A collision with Earth has already been ruled out, but last fall there was still about a four percent chance that the asteroid 2024 YR4 could impact the moon. The lunar surface witnesses numerous impacts because the moon does not have a protective atmosphere. However, the impact of this asteroid on Earth’s satellite would have had glaring consequences – it is a 60 meter large chunk that will come close to us at the end of 2032.
