While trying to complete the sale of the Banco Master for the state BRB (Bank of Brasília), the businessman Daniel Vorcaro compared the activity of financial institutions to a “mafia”.
“I’ve always said about this bank thing that it’s like the mafia. You can’t get out. Nobody gets out. Well, it doesn’t get out. It only gets out badly,” Vorcaro wrote to his then-girlfriend, on April 7, 2025.
At the time, the banker was trying to approve the sale of Master to BRB. The transaction was blocked in September of that year. Without liquidity, Vorcaro’s financial institution was liquidated in November by the Central Bank.
