Defeated this Saturday (7) in the proposal to form a federation with the PT, the group that has the minister (General Secretariat) as its main leadership must decide whether or not to remain in the party in the next two weeks.
The assessment that the party leadership and minority currents decided to inflict a categorical defeat on some of the party’s most visible figures and electoral potential must weigh heavily in the decision.
The current, called Solidarity Revolution, brings together some of the party’s most public figures. In addition to the minister, minister Sônia Guajajara (Indigenous Peoples) and the federal deputy (SP), among others, are part of the event. The rejection of the federation received 75% of the votes, isolating Boulos’s wing, which gave 25% in favor.
A strong possibility is for the group to migrate to the PT. Even if the decision is to stay, it will be necessary to renegotiate the group’s operating conditions in the party, says a person from Boulos’ wing.
The isolation of the wing of the two PSOL ministers in the government is due to a split in the more moderate camp of the party, which has always acted together.
This time, the Primavera Socialista group, led by the president of the party, Paula Coradi, her predecessor, Juliano Medeiros, and federal deputy Ivan Valente (SP), allied themselves with the currents opposing the federation.
The argument is that the PSOL would be swallowed up by the PT and would have to support candidates for governor unacceptable to the party in some states. Those in favor of the federation say that it is necessary to unite the left to face the right, which has formed federations.
