The war in the Middle East completes a week this Friday (6) and there is no sign of the attacks slowing down. On the contrary, American and Israeli authorities promise to intensify the bombings.
This Friday, Israel bombed Tehran, the capital of Iran, and Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. In turn, Iran carried out attacks on Iraqi Kurdistan and residential areas in Bahrain.
Also this Friday, the American newspaper The Washington Post revealed that Russia is providing information to Iran so that the country can attack American forces in the Middle East.

The Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC), a multinational naval monitoring group focused on the Middle East, has no records of oil transport in the last 24 hours.
War numbers:
- At least 1,332 Iranian civilians have died in the war, according to UN data;
- 100,000 Lebanese have left their homes and are in shelters after Israeli warnings of attacks, according to the UN;
- 50 jets dropped around 100 bombs on Tehran this evening, according to the Israeli Armed Forces;
- 15,000 passengers and 20,000 cruise ship sailors are stranded in the Gulf region because of the war.
Israel reinforces promise of attacks
Again, Israeli officials spoke of a “new phase” of the war. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it has “surprising additional moves” planned.
The IDF also said it destroyed Ali Khamenei’s underground bunker, which continued to be used by Iranian authorities after the supreme leader’s death.
US denies possibility of agreement
In line with what Israel warned, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that attacks on Iran will “increase dramatically”.

Iran threatens Europe
Contrary to Trump’s stance, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said for the first time that some countries have begun a mediation effort to end the war in the Middle East. According to him, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt and Oman offered to mediate the conversation with the United States and Israel.

“We are committed to lasting peace in the region, but we will not hesitate to defend the dignity and sovereignty of our nation. Mediation must address those who underestimated the Iranian people and sparked this conflict,” Pezeshkian wrote in X.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister also warned that European countries that become involved in the conflict will become “legitimate targets for Iranian retaliation.”
Lebanon and Russia speak out
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Friday that his country had been drawn into a war that it “did not choose or seek”. In a meeting with other Arab leaders, he stated that “a humanitarian catastrophe is approaching”.

The Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke to Iran’s president by phone and that the two agreed to stay in touch.
UN speaks out amid criticism of inaction
This Friday, UN officials also spoke out about the war, amid questions about the effectiveness of the international system.
The secretary-general, António Guterres, stated that “the situation could not be more serious”. In a publication on X, Guterres warned that the conflict could spiral out of control and urged heads of state to stop the attacks and begin negotiations.

Another UN official to speak was the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, who drew attention to the violation of international law caused by the Israeli attacks in Lebanon. “Lebanon is becoming a flashpoint of tension,” Türk said.
Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, accused Israel and the United States of war crimes. “[Eles] demonstrated that they do not recognize any limits in the practice of their crimes.”
