The biodiesel mixture should not have increased from 15 to 16% on March 1st. However, to take effect, the measure still depends on approval by the National Energy Policy Council, the CNPE, linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The predicted conogram is that, from this year onwards, the mixture will increase by 1% each year until reaching 20% in 2030.
Implementation, however, is delayed. Last year, the same thing happened and
parliamentarians linked to agriculture have demanded the federal government. The fear is that fuel prices will skyrocket across the world. And the delay in increasing the mixture will increase inflation in Brazil even further.
The Mixed Biodiesel Parliamentary Front says that the scenario is for a reduction in the price of biodiesel, not only due to the conflict in the Middle East, but also due to the forecast of a record soybean harvest this year.
“Therefore, the adoption of B16 will not have an inflationary effect on the resale of fuels or on the IPCA”, says the Front.
Despite this, the president of , Magda Chambriard,
Pressure is also exerted by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock, which sent a letter to the MME, this Friday (6), demanding an urgent increase in the mandatory mixture from the current 15% to 17%.
The entity says that the delay in implementing B16 is already a factor in reducing the potential for cushioning crises.
“In the new framework of global geopolitics, the immediate increase to 17% appears as a reasonable measure for the national reality”, said the president of the CNA, João Martins.
When contacted by the Panel, the Ministry of Mines and Energy did not comment.
