Abbas Araghchi stated that the Islamic Republic ‘will not allow anyone to interfere in internal affairs’ and that the decision ‘is the responsibility of the Iranian people’
The Iranian people, and not Donald Trumpmust choose its new leader, said this Sunday (8) the Iranian Foreign Minister, who demanded an apology from the American president for starting the war in the Middle East.
“We do not allow anyone to interfere in our internal affairs. It is the responsibility of the Iranian people to choose their new leader,” he declared Abbas Araghchi on NBC’s “Meet the Press” after Trump said on Thursday that he should participate in choosing Iran’s next supreme leader.
Araghchi also stated that the Republican president “should apologize to the people of the region and to the Iranian people for the murders and the destruction they caused.”
In the interview, Araghchi said that Iranian missiles cannot reach United States territory and defended Tehran’s attacks against its Gulf neighbors.
“It was the Americans who started this war against us, attacking, and we are defending ourselves. It is obvious that our missiles cannot reach American territory,” he said.
“What we can do, yes, is attack American bases and installations around us, which unfortunately are in the territory of our neighboring countries,” he added.
